The World Bank and the Distortion of Public Health

This testimony describes how the Bank has pushed profit making in the health sector, and in so doing distorted the very concept of public health by de-linking clinical and public health services. She describes how the Bank has broken the concept of health into discrete units and has done away with strategies of comprehensive family healthcare by dissociating it from the welfare inputs of water, sanitation, housing, and employment. She calls on academia to reject this new public health where efficiency has been completely monetarized.
